Elora, Ontario in the Summer
Hi everyone! Hope your summer is going great and you guys are taking advantage of the long weekend well!
In this post, I wanna share with you guys about our one-day trip to Elora! Our mission was to tube in Elora Gorge Conservation Area and then hit the swim-hole at Elora Quarry Conservation Area.
Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. We didn't make it to the Elora Quarry, but we still had a wonderful experience.
We booked a car via Zip Car for a full day that cost us about $160, tax and insurance included.
We hit the road at 7AM to avoid traffic since we assumed many people are going out of the city as well. It took us about 2 hours to get there and we managed to grab snacks at McDonald's and Walmart.
To get into the Elora Gorge Conservation Area, visitors must pay an admission fee of $7/adult at the entrance. If you have specific activities in mind, tell the staff at the front gate and they will give you direction. If you don't, don't worry because they will give a map of the area and you can drive around to check out the spots or you can plan ahead by looking at their website here. They also listed the price.
The cost of tubing was $35/person including tubing registration fee, helmet, life jacket, and tube rental. Once you're all set, we left our car in the parking area which is in front of the registration, and walk to the tubing starting point. It was about a 20-30 minutes walk. Quite a long walk right?! Plus you will be carrying your own tube. Not that it's heavy, but it's a bit of a hassle.
Once we got to the starting point, we just jumped in like we knew what we were doing. I mean there was a staff there but she just sat on the side of the river playing with her phone. It took me a while to float down the river as the current kept circling around where I started. The water level was fairly low as we got stuck on the rocks often. The water was a little bit chilly but it balanced out the bright sun ray landed on my face. Overall, we had a fun time! Unfortunately, I can't share you much about the other activities but check out their website.
After we cleaned up a little, we hit downtown of Elora, right on the west side of Elora George Conservation Area. The surroundings made us feel like we were in little Europe! A lot of local boutiques to shop, cafe, restaurants, unique stores, and more! We went to The Village Olive Grove and that sells unique flavored organic ice cream. Very recommended! Enjoy some pictures from our trip!
