Stackt: Toronto's Shipping Container Market

First post! I hope that I'll be able to write every once or two weeks.

So! What to explore in Toronto this weekend? Have you checked out Stackt? Toronto’s shipping container market, located in downtown, is now open! Though only half of the market’s containers were occupied, it is definitely a unique retail experience and insta-worthy.

When you decided to explore make sure you dress accordingly and prepared for Toronto’s bipolar weather, as you will be spending half of your visit time outside. Most of the containers’ size is relatively small, so don’t expect to take your time in each container. The idea is to enjoy the view as there is plenty of space for you to chill outside like these colorful chairs. That being said, Stackt may be closed during winter.

The first container I visited was Bean + Pearl from Brampton. Cute little bubble tea shop with pink walls and LED neon sign quoting Kendrick Lamar’s LOVE. I think I got carried away with the color of the walls, I ordered strawberry milk tea with pearls (tapioca). And this is weird because my to-go has always been original or taro milk tea. It’s not the best milk tea out there but it definitely boosted up my mood!

As if I haven’t had enough sugar for the day, I tried out Donut Monster next door. Personally, I think the doughnut was a bit too ‘doughy’, but it could also be a bad batch. Their flavors are fairly unique though, like Blood Orange Hibiscus, Cranberry Almond and Pineapple Sesame Crunch. The original shop is located in Hamilton. So, if you are craving for these bad boys and not wanting to travel far, check this one out.

Another retail store that catches my eyes is Ellie Mae. Toronto born designer whose famous pieces are vintage inspired. Yes. I said, designer. If you are not familiar with this brand, don’t be surprised when you flip the price tag of one of her vintage Pink Floyd World Tour T-Shirt and see that it is priced for $395.00 CAD. Her pricing reflects the quality of fabrics and local-sourcing. There are other beautiful and feminine pieces other than those vintage tees, like a pink leather jacket or floral print dresses.
